About Cam

IMG_5547.heic

Cam Krause is a high school student and youth advocate dedicated to improving early childhood health education. After attending multiple school systems and observing significant gaps in how health and nutrition were taught, he recognized that many young students were not receiving the foundational knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their health.

Motivated by the growing prevalence of childhood health challenges, including rising rates of diabetes and obesity, Cam took initiative to develop a free, comprehensive health curriculum designed specifically for K–5 students. The program integrates age-appropriate lessons on nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and healthy habits, making complex concepts accessible and engaging for young learners.

What began as a personal project quickly evolved into a broader mission to promote equitable access to health education. By offering the curriculum at no cost, Cam aims to support schools, educators, and families in communities where such materials may be limited or unavailable.

Cam is committed to service and preventative health, with the goal of empowering the next generation to lead healthier lives.

What do Health Heroes users have to say about the lessons, their resources, and their impact?

“As a third grade teacher, finding high-quality health materials that are both engaging and age-appropriate can be a real challenge. Health Heroes has completely transformed the way I teach health in my classroom. The multimedia lessons are colorful, interactive, and perfectly tailored for elementary students. What I appreciate most is how comprehensive the teacher resources are. Everything I need is organized and ready to go, which significantly reduces my prep time. My students stay engaged from start to finish, and they’re genuinely excited to participate in discussions about nutrition, hygiene, and overall wellness. It’s reassuring to know the content is designed specifically for grades K–5 and truly meets them where they are developmentally. Health Heroes has become an essential part of our classroom routine.”

- M. Acheatel

Before using Health Heroes, teaching health often felt like something I had to piece together on my own. Now, as a third grade teacher, I feel fully supported. The free resources are thoughtfully designed, easy to implement, and aligned with what my students can realistically understand and apply.

The multimedia format keeps my class engaged in ways that worksheets alone never could. I’ve seen more participation, better discussions, and even students sharing what they’ve learned with their families at home. The fact that everything is accessible and ready to use saves me hours of preparation time each month. Health Heroes truly understands both the needs of teachers and the learning styles of elementary students.

- A. Zarkesh

“Health Heroes has been a game changer in my third grade classroom. The lessons are not only developmentally appropriate, but they’re also structured in a way that makes teaching health feel manageable and enjoyable. I no longer have to spend extra time searching for reliable materials or creating my own content.

My students love the interactive elements and visuals, and I’ve noticed they retain the information much better. The teacher guides are clear, concise, and incredibly helpful, which has significantly reduced my workload. It’s rare to find free resources that are this well-developed and easy to use. Health Heroes is making a meaningful difference in both my teaching experience and my students’ understanding of healthy habits.”

Lesson plans are designed with teachers in mind: lesson outlines reduce planning headaches.

Lesson Plans

Teachers spend way too much time and money preparing lessons as it stands. Researching and finding content, trying to plan how much time to put in, organizing the lesson, and thinking of and preparing lesson questions is hard. Health Heroes lesson plans cut out all the headache of planning.

The classic form of learning: content easily taught through illustrative worksheets with games.

Worksheets

While most worksheets involve lots of reading and writing, Health Heroes worksheets keep students engaged and interacting with their content. Health Heroes worksheets always break up the straight reading and writing of content with fun activities catered to each age group. Worksheets are also cumulative across grades, making for a more integrated curriculum.

Videos keep kids having fun with consistent characters and comedic learning.

Videos

Videos are where students reinforce the concepts through examples and interaction with Health Heroes's two characters, Captain Carrot and Brainy Broccoli. With relatable dialogue and student interactive discussion sections built in, Health Heroes videos keep students having fun while learning and provide less work for teachers.

"Learning by doing" breaks up sedentary classroom activities with motor skills or exercise

Kinesthetic Activity

Many students are kinesthetic learners, meaning they learn better by moving their hands or body. Kinesthetic activities cater to such students and provide a meaningful break from classical school activities to avoid disengagement.

Real-life homework promotes starting healthy habits and makes for easy discussion facilitation.

Health Schedule

Health Heroes's distinctive take home "homework" comes in the form of health schedules. Rather than have students continue to answer questions and read, we believe that reinforcing the content through actually practicing it is a surefire way to instill the values of health in the students. Health Schedules also provide a great talking point for students and classes at the beginning of the next health lesson.

Storybooks

Every storybook tells the story of a child similar to the students who learns a valuable lesson about health. Storybooks create lots of discussion and make for an easy lesson opener for teachers.
